a voyage through the waves

A VOYAGE THROUGH THE WAVES

In the evening we had a practice of walking through the seashore. It was a normal routine for me as I belong to Kochi. During monsoon, it is a fantastic feeling to be with the seashore. Not only couples but also aged folks and kids used to share the evening. The waves will start the game slowly by jumping towards the shore and by sunset it become more powerful. The sunset ensure final scene and each shadows turns back to their business. The magnificent moments were restricted for me since the day I left for a job far from the home town and at places where water is even a scarce resource, this again developed up my affection towards the sea.

During my leave I never forget to make use of the opportunity to share with the sea. For the preceding few times one teenage boy we used to spot in the beach by late evening. He was around fourteen years old. He jumps on the waves that moves him into the sea and in the next one throws him to the shore. The thrilled gathering will give few money for him. I astonished he rushes and disappear within hours. Nobody asked about him even the routine visitors! Once I enquired his name, he just uttered something and ran away. Ridiculous! Why it is I analysed and left the matter. One Ice cream seller mentioned me about this boy who is studying in a government school and hails from a poor fisherman family. He is survived by his mother and sister. He lost his father in this sea since then he is struggling to live. In the morning he sells newspapers and after school he rushes to the beach for few hours and then goes back to home. I recollect, smiling was strange for him. My wife also impressed by him. She gave few currencies to the boy during our last visit.

This time while walking through the sand we were just looking for the boy and we couldn’t trace him anywhere. The next day also his absence made a talk between us. In a curiosity, we enquired about him to the ice cream sellers. Sir, that boy will never come again for any show! He never came back after jumping on a wicked wave. The madding sea swallowed him. I saw tears in my wife’s eyes.

A Butterfly's Lesson

“ One day, a small opening appeared on a cocoon; a man sat and watched for the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole.

Then it seems to stop making any progress.
It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could not go any further.
So the man decided to help the butterfly: he took a pair of scissors and opened the cocoon.
The butterfly then emerged easily.
But it had a withered body, it was tiny and shrivelled wings.
The man continued to watch because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would open, enlarge and expand, to be able to support the butterfly’s body and become firm.

Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a withered body and shrivelled wings. It never was able to fly.
What the man, in his kindness and his goodwill did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening, were God’s was of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings, so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.
Sometimes, struggles are exactly what we need in our life.
If God allowed as it go through our life without any obstacles, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as we could have been. Never been able to fly.
I asked for strength.. And God gave me difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for wisdom..And God gave me problems to solve.
I asked for prosperity… And god gave me a Brain and Brawn to work…
I asked for courage.. And God gave me obstacles to overcome.
I asked for love… And God gave me Troubled people to help
I asked for favours…and God gave me opportunities.
“I received nothing I wanted…But I received everything I needed”.
Live life without fear, confront all obstacles and evince that you can overcome them.
